This day in history

1871: Journalist Henry Morton Stanley began his African Safari to find David Livingstone, leading to the famous line “Dr. Livingstone, I presume?” and the comic gold that has since been based off it. Thanks!

1970: Vinko Bogataj crashes extravagantly during a ski-jumping championship in Germany. The image would become “the agony of defeat” in the opening credits of ABC’s Wide World of Sports. That’s gotta suck. I’d be angry.
