INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior  Sam Danesis (Akron, Ohio/Revere) claimed the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference No. 1 singles for the fourth straight year to highlight a second-place team finish at the league individual tournament.

Danesis claimed a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Kelsey Fulkerson of Transylvania to cap a 3-0 weekend and earn the No. 1 singles title.

Junior Megan Chann (Columbia, Mo./ Rock Bridge) and sophomore Klara Schroederus (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) added second-place finishes at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots.

Chann finished 2-1 with a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 loss to Stephanie Townsend of Transylvania in the title match.  Kaitlin Hizny of Transylvania topped Schroederus 6-2, 6-2 in the title match as each player completed the week at 2-1.

Freshman Sage Sackett (Kalamzoo, Mich./Mattawan) and freshman Melissa Montgomery (Alexandria, Ind./Monroe) came home with third-place honors and 2-1 records at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions.  Sophomore Ellyn Norris (Penn Laird, Va./Spotswood) contributed a 2-1 mark and fourth-place effort at No. 4 singles.

Danesis and Montgomery finished second in No. 1 doubles, while Schroederus and Norris captured a second place effort at No. 3 doubles with 2-1 records.  Sackett and Chann placed 1-2 at the No. 2 doubles slot.

Transylvania narrowly topped Rose-Hulman 41-38 in the tournament scoring system for the team title, with Franklin placing third at 26 points.
