INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman women's
tennis team narrowly dropped a 5-4 decision to Franklin College
at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Team Tournament
on Saturday.
With the loss, the Engineers end the fall season
with a 7-4 record and finished third in the HCAC standings.
Sophomore Sam Danesis (Akron, Ohio)
led the way with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles and, with
freshman Megan Chann (Columbia, Mo.), an 8-4 victory at
No. 1 doubles.
The No. 3 doubles team of Betsy Marschand (Galveston, Ind.)
and Katy Zawadski (Yorktown, Ind.) added an 8-3 win,
while freshman Caitlin Kohli (Lima, Ohio) won by a 6-1,
6-2 margin at No. 6 singles.
Manchester College went on to claim the automatic
bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Tournament with a 5-4 win
over Franklin in the title match.
