INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman women's
tennis team produced four champions at the HCAC Individuals on
Saturday.
Sophomore Sam Danesis (Akron, Ohio)
captured titles at No. 1 singles defeating Manchester's Milagros
Ridoutt 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-4, and No. 1 doubles with partner
freshman Megan Chann (Columbia, Mo.) after the pair won
8-5 over the duo from Manchester.
Rose-Hulman's other champions came at No. 3
doubles as the team of Betsy Marschand (Galveston, Ind.)
and Katy Zawadski (Yorktown, Ind.) defeated the team from
Franklin College 8-6.
Three third place finishes helped Rose-Hulman
capture second place in the team standings. Marschand at
No. 4 singles, Caitlin Kohli (Lima, Ohio) at No. 5
singles, and the team of Maritza Gonzalez (Vancouver, Wash.)
and Kristin Wilson (Lake Zurich, Ill.) at No. 2 doubles
all finished third in their respective positions.
Rose-Hulman returns to action in the HCAC team
championships on October 20 in Indianapolis.
