  Rose-Hulman News Rose-Hulman Clinches No. 1 Seed for HCAC Tourney with Win Over Franklin

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman women's soccer team clinched the top seed for the upcoming Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with an 11-0 victory over Franklin College on Tuesday night.

The Engineers increased their school record winning streak to 13 matches with the top scoring performance in school history.

Seniors Sarah Graber (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair) and Julie Roebel (Cincinnati, Ohio) joined freshman Elisabeth Baca (Santa Fe, N.M.) with two goals each to lead the Rose-Hulman offensive attack.

Other goal scorers for the Engineers included freshman Molly Richardson (Orange Park, Fla./St. John's Country Day), senior Jennifer Gordon (Zionsville), freshman Jeanie Sozansky (Greentown/Eastern), freshman Caroline Bundrick (Harrisonburg, Va./Ashby) and freshman Allison Luther (Beach Park, Ill./Zion-Benton).

Junior Liz Ridgway (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Northwestern U.) led the passing attack with three assists.  Graber pitched in with two assists, while Baca, Roebel, Luther and junior Jen Lyman (Irwin, Pa.) each had one assist in the victory.

The goalkeeping tandem of senior Rachel Miller (Spring, Texas/Klein Collins) and freshman Jasmine Browne (Tampa, Fla./Middleton) combined on the shutout in goal as Rose-Hulman outshot the visiting Grizzlies 44-3.

With the victory, Rose-Hulman improves to 16-2 on the season and 7-0 in HCAC play.  The Engineers return to action on Saturday at Hanover, prior to serving as the No. 1 seed for the four-team league tournament.  Rose-Hulman opens the HCAC Tournament, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs, with a home game against the league's No. 4 seed on Oct. 31.
