  Rose-Hulman News Stanley Record Leads Women's Soccer to 9th Straight Win
 

Annmarie Stanley set a school record with five assists in the Engineer victory.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology increased its school record winning streak to nine matches and improved to 12-2 on the season with a 9-1 victory over Finlandia University in women’s soccer action on Friday. 

Freshman Annmarie Stanley (Warrenville, Ill./Rosmary) paced the Engineer effort with a school record five assists, snapping the mark of three established five times. 

The Engineers scored seven goals in the first 24 minutes of action to cruise to the victory.  Senior Jennifer Gordon (Zionsville) scored her fifth tally of the season 54 seconds into the game to make the score 1-0. 

Freshman Molly Richardson (Orange Park, Fla./St. John’s) scored her 12th goal of the season at the 3:07 mark on a pass from Gordon.  Senior Sarah Graber (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair) added the third goal of the game at 4:49 on the first assist from Stanley. 

Stanley provided the assists on the next three goals as Rose-Hulman gained a 6-0 advantage.  Freshman Caroline Andersen (N. Manchester/Manchester) scored in the 10th minute, senior Julie Roebel (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton Academy) tallied a goal in the 12th minute, and freshman Susanna Kelly (Evergreen Park, Ill./Queen of Peace) scored her first career goal in the 15th minute. 

The final score of the 24-minute stretch came as the first career goal for freshman Jeanie Sozansky (Greentown/Eastern)

In the second half, senior Katie Benner (Vancouver, Wash./Evergreen) tallied her first goal of the season on the fifth assist from Stanley.  Freshman Allison Luther (Beach Park, Ill./Zion-Benton) rounded out Rose-Hulman’s scoring with her first career goal on a penalty kick. 

Finlandia’s lone tally came midway through the second half on the first goal of the season for senior Missy Skarda. 

Rose-Hulman maintains its regional ranking from d3kicks.com and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with the victory.  The Engineers travel to Blackburn College on Sunday.
