TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman
Institute of Technology senior Julie Roebel (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) has been named the Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference Player of the Month for October in results released
today.
To earn the award, Roebel was selected as the top female athlete in any sport at any
institution during the month of October by league sports information
directors. Each college is permitted one nominee for the entire athletic
department per month, and the nine nominees are placed on one ballot for
voting.
Roebel is the second consecutive
Rose-Hulman women's soccer player to claim the award, after Molly
Richardson earned the honor in September.
She stands
as the seventh Fightin' Engineer student athlete to capture Player of the
Month honors in the college's two years in the HCAC.
Roebel helped lead the
Engineers to a perfect 8-0 record in October for the team's first perfect
month in school history. Rose-Hulman clinched its first ever
conference title during the month, and Roebel provided key offensive support
with 11 goals that included a pair of three-goal performances.
The four-year all-conference
honoree ranks second in school history with 53 goals and 122 points during
her Fightin' Engineer playing career.
Rose-Hulman stands 19-2 overall and
opens NCAA Division III Tournament play on Saturday against Denison
University at Washington University of St. Louis.
