Jesse Evans won the heavyweight title at Manchester.

N. MANCHESTER, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior heavyweight Jesse Evans (Rose City, Mich./Ogemaw Heights) earned title honors to highlight four placements at the Manchester Spartan Wrestling Invitational on Saturday.

 

Evans took down Matt Whyde of Wabash by a 6-3 count, Dawud Wilson of Case Western 2-1 and Garrett Thiel of Wabash 5-2 to reach the final.  In the championship match, Evans pinned Sean Misko of Olivet College at the 1:31 mark to claim the title.

 

Sophomore Ryan Schalk (Centreville, Va./Westfield) added third-place honors with a 3-1 mark and three wins by decision at 157 pounds.  Junior Tyler Goble (Bloomington/South) came home fourth at 165 pounds, while sophomore Dan Goodwin (Las Vegas, Nev./Rancho) started 3-1 before earning eighth-place honors at 133 pounds.

 

The Engineers travel to the Wheaton College Invitational next weekend.
