Tyler Thornton finished 3-1 to lead the effort at Knox.

GALESBURG, ILL. – Two Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology wrestlers recorded 3-1 marks to lead the team effort at the Knox College Duals on Saturday.

 

Freshman Tyler Thornton (Willard, Ohio) finished 3-1 overall with one pin and one majority decision at 174 pounds.  Sophomore Jacob Wise (Indianapolis/Warren Central) also compiled a 3-1 record with two forfeit victories and a win by injury.

 

Freshman Greg Williams (Boonville) and junior Tyler Goble (Bloomington/South) provided depth with 2-2 records at 184 and 165 pounds.

 

Wheaton defeated the Engineers 36-18 in the opening match, with Lakeland earning a 41-16 and Elmhurst a 49-0 decision in three rounds of action.  Rose-Hulman defeated a combined All-Star team by a 21-18 count in its fourth match.

 

The Engineers take next weekend off before traveling to the Manchester College Invitational on Jan. 20.
