TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The University of Indianapolis claimed five first-place finishes out of 10 weight classes to lead all schools at the 2002 Little State Wrestling Championships at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Friday and Saturday. The Greyhounds claimed five individual match championships and also had the meet's Most Valuable Wrestler. Sophomore Mitch Napier, the 149-pound champion, earned Most Outstanding Wrestler honors with teammates claiming championships at 125, 133, 141 and 165 pounds. Other schools with individual event champions included Muskingum College (Richie Minner at 157 pounds), Wabash College (Chris Healy at 174), Lincoln College (A.J. Blahut at 184), the Milwaukee School of Engineering (Matt Huset at 197) and Manchester College (Jamie Salazar at heavyweight). The host Rose-Hulman Engineers placed two wrestlers in final-round competitions. Graduate student Cody Wagner (Lawrenceville, Ill.) finished eighth at 197 pounds, while junior Jesse Somann (Neosho, Wis.) placed eighth at 184 pounds. Complete photos and results are posted above. |
