  Rose-Hulman News Two Records Lead Engineers Past Franklin 54-45

Jill Floyd became the seventh player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau in the win.
FRANKLIN, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on a historic evening to defeat Franklin College 54-45 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball action on Wednesday night.
 
Senior Jill Floyd (Bloomington, Ill./Olympia) became the seventh player in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark in her career with three points in the contest.  Floyd stands at exactly 1,000 points through tonight's game. 

Freshman Donna Marsh (Mobile, Ala.) added a second mark with three blocked shots to become the first Engineer to record 50 blocks in a season.

 
Marsh led Rose-Hulman's attack with a career-high 21-point effort on 7-11 from the field and 7-10 from the foul line.  She added 13 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season.
 
Junior Liz Ridgway (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Northwestern University) also reached double figures with 14 points and added six rebounds.  Jennifer Redicker led Franklin with 10 points.

Senior Katie Tharp (Linton) joined Marsh in the double-figure rebound club with 10 boards in the contest.  The Engineers outrebounded Franklin 42-30 in the win and shot 46% from the field.

 
Rose-Hulman improved to 9-10 overall and 5-5 in HCAC play with their second win of the season over Franklin.  The Grizzlies dropped to 10-8 overall and 4-5 in league play.  The Engineers host Transylvania University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
