Rose-Hulman Retains Clabber Girl Trophy, Improves to     15-2 with 86-45 Win Over St. Mary-of-the-Woods

TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology retained the Clabber Girl Trophy for the third consecutive year and improved to 15-2 overall with an 86-45 victory over St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in women's basketball action on Wednesday.

Senior Suzy Carlson (State College, Pa.) led all scorers with 23 points, including four three-point field goals.  Junior Jill Floyd (Bloomington, Ill./ Olympia) added 14 points and senior Rebekah Forsyth (Farmersburg/N. Central) had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Other key contributors to the balanced Rose-Hulman attack included junior Candace Procter (Southfield, Mich./Groves) with seven points, four assists and three steals; junior Katie Tharp (Linton) with seven points and five rebounds; sophomore Liz Ridgway (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Northwestern U.) with five points and seven rebounds; and freshman Shayna Banet (Canton, Ga./Woodstock) with four points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Kendra Stumler led the St. Mary-of-the-Woods offense with 12 points, eight rebounds and six blocked shots.  The Pomeroys were held to just 25.5% from the field by Rose-Hulman's defensive effort.

Rose-Hulman established a Clabber Girl Trophy Game record for the most points scored and the largest margin of victory in a series matchup.  Stumler also set a Clabber Girl Trophy Game record with her six blocked shots, while the Engineer total of 24 assists established another new mark.

Rose-Hulman set the tone early with the first 13 points of the game.  Carlson buried two three-pointers and two free throws, while Tharp pitched in the remaining five points in the spurt.  The lead quickly reached 15 points at 21-6, and hit a first-half high of 28 points at 48-20 on a free throw by Carlson with 44 seconds left in the stanza.

The 15-2 Engineers return to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday against Hanover College at 1 p.m.  St. Mary-of-the-Woods dropped to 3-16 on the campaign.
