Rose-Hulman Improves to 11-1 with 63-46 Win at Webster

Box Score

Rebekah Forsyth led a pair of players in double figures with a 17-point effort.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team improved to 11-1 on the season and extended its school record winning streak to eight games with a 63-46 victory over Webster University on Friday.

Senior Rebekah Forsyth (Farmersburg/N. Central) led a balanced Engineer scoring attack with 17 points.  Junior Jill Floyd (Bloomington, Ill./Olympia) added 13 points and a career-high six assists in the effort.

Other keys to the Rose-Hulman attack included junior Katie Tharp (Linton) with eight points on 4-6 from the field; senior Suzy Carlson (State College, Pa.) with six points and four assists; and senior Karyn Kost (Avon) with a season-high six points.

The Engineers were held to 40% from the field in the first half, but relied on a strong defensive effort to hold Webster to 30%.  Rose-Hulman held a 28-19 halftime advantage, due in part to a trio of three-pointers and a 5-7 performance from the free throw line.

Jill Floyd added 13 points and a career-high six assists.

Rose-Hulman shot 59% in the second half to overpower the Webster effort.  All 13 members of the Engineers played at least four minutes in the victory, with 10 players reaching the scoring column.

Julie McGirl led the Webster offense with 15 points and Jacuelyn Wamser added 11.

The Engineers return to action at Defiance College in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday.  Webster dropped to 1-7 on the campaign.
