Rose-Hulman Women's Basketball Receiving Votes
TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team received votes in both NCAA Division III national top 25 polls for the first time in the history of the program this week. The Fightin' Engineers stand 13-1 on the season and 6-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, and are currently on a school record setting 10-game winning streak. D3hoops.com awarded Rose-Hulman 21 poll points this week and the team stands 32nd in the organization's poll, seven spots from an official national ranking. The Engineers also received one vote in the ESPN / Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll this week and are ranked 36th, 11 spots from an official ranking. Senior Rebekah Forsyth (Farmersburg/N. Central) has been named conference Player of the Week three times this year and was the league Player of the Month in December. She paces the offense with averages of 18.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.
Senior Suzy Carlson (State College, Pa.) has added 15.7 points per game and ranks in the national top 10 in free throw accuracy at 91.6%. She is the defending NCAA Division III statistical national champion in free throw shooting after burying 95.3% last season. Rounding out the starting lineup are juniors Jill Floyd (Bloomington, Ill./Olympia), Brittany Moline (Indianapolis/Perry Meridian) and Katie Tharp (Linton). Floyd averages 7.8 points per game and ranks third in school history with 108 three-pointers. Moline ranks fifth in the HCAC in assists (48) and eighth in steals (29). Tharp pitches in with 9.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, including six double-figure scoring games this winter. Rose-Hulman returns to action at the College of Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. | ||||
