  Rose-Hulman News Rose-Hulman Defeats Kalamazoo in Five Sets, Falls To Millikin
 

Anna Lewer helped the Engineers defeat  Kalamazoo in 5 sets Saturday Afternoon.  She was also named to the All-Tournament Team

GREENCASTLE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology defeated Kalamazoo in five sets after falling to Millikin in three at the DePauw Invitational on Saturday.

Rose-Hulman won the close contest over Kalamazoo by a score of 25-17, 25-17, 23-25, 22-25, 15-11.  In their first match of the day, Rose-Hulman fell to Millikin, 25-17, 25-16, 25-19. 

Lewer led the team with seven kills and 15 digs.  Hickman contributed six kills of her own against Millikin.

The Fightin' Engineers were led offensively by  junior Amanda Jevons (Henderson, Nev/Rancho), who smashed 15 kills in the match.  Freshman Anna Lewer (Indianapolis, Ind/Lutheran) and  sophomore Karah Hickman (Hobart, Ind) also contributed 12 kills while senior Kate Sernett (Crystal Lake, Ill/Marian Central Catholic) provided 10 more. 

Lewer earned a spot on the DePauw Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts.

Sophomore Leah Pelzel (Loveland, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) lead the team with 53 assists and 19 digs.  Lewer also chipped in defensively, picking up18 digs, while junior Samantha Gregory (Huntsville, Ala/Catholic) collected 15 and Sernett had 14.  Pelzel also lead the team with three aces. 

The volleyball team now stands at 9-5 on the year and returns to action Wednesday to face rival Earlham at home.
