BRIDGEWATER, VA. --
The Rose-Hulman volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on
Saturday to Bridgewater College and Goshen College. The
Engineers fell in three games to Bridgewater 20-30, 16-30, and
25-30, and in four games to Goshen 17-30, 21-30, 30-27, and
19-30.
In the match against
Bridgewater, freshman Amanda Jevons (Henderson, Nev.) led the Engineer
offensive attack with eight kills and tallied one service ace. Senior
Erin Rumley (Portage, Ind.) led Rose-Hulman with three service aces and
adding three kills.
Junior Brandi Sturgill (Zionville,
N.C.) led the way with 25 assists, as freshman Samantha Gregory
(Huntsville, Ala.) collected eight digs to pace the Engineer defensive
effort.
Against Goshen, Rose-Hulman was
led offensively and defensively by junior Sarah Messmer (Cincinnati, Ohio)
who tallied 10 kills to go along with 13 digs and a pair of solo blocks.
Sturgill led with 27 assists
and three services aces, while collecting 10 digs in the contest.
The Engineer volleyball team
now stands at 12-10 on the season and will return to action on Tuesday when they
travel to Franklin College.
