Engineers Fall to Franklin, Maryville at DePauw Invite Statistics for: Franklin; Maryville (Mo.)
GREENCASTLE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology dropped a pair of matches to Franklin College and Maryville (Mo.) to cap the DePauw Volleyball Invitational on Saturday. The Grizzlies topped Rose-Hulman 30-28, 30-21, 30-27, before Maryville earned a 30-28, 30-21, 27-30, 30-22 win. Sophomore Sarah Messmer (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) paced Rose-Hulman's effort with 11 kills and two solo blocks against Franklin. In the Maryville match, freshman Kate Sernett (Crystal Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) led Rose-Hulman with 11 kills, with junior Katie Tharp (Linton) adding 10. Sophomore Brandi Sturgill (Zionville, N.C./Watauga) added a team-high 27 assists. Sophomore Katie Wolber (Brookville/Franklin County) added a team-high 11 digs to lead the defense. Rose-Hulman dropped to 1-11 on the season and returns to action against Maryville of Missouri at 3 p.m. today at the DePauw Invitational. Return to the Engineers' volleyball page
