TERRE
HAUTE, IND. - The Rose-Hulman men's track and field team has been
regionally ranked for the first time in more than a decade by the
U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The
Engineers are ranked No. 5 in the Great Lakes Region and No. 34
nationally in this week's rankings from the organization.
The
USTFCCA uses a criteria that evaluates the top two performances in
each event that is conducted at the NCAA Division III Track and
Field Indoor National Championships and assigns a numerical value
based upon the quality of the mark.
Last
weekend, Rose-Hulman finished first among the eight Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference track programs at the Hoosier-Buckeye
Invitational at the Sports and Recreation Center. Senior
Thomas Reives (Indianapolis/Arsenal Tech) won the high jump (6'
4") and the triple jump (42' 8 3/4") to pace the effort, with
sophomore Calvin Bueltel (Huntingburg/Southridge) adding the
second-fastest time in school history in the 200-meter dash and the
fourth-best all-time mark in the 55-meter dash.
Rose-Hulman returns to action on March 7 at the DePauw University
Invitational.
