  Rose-Hulman News Rose-Hulman Track and Field Tallies 11 Top 10s at Little State
 

Anastasia Tarpeh highlighted the Little State Meet opening day with two top six finishes.

RESULTS

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman men's track and field squad combined for 11 top-10 efforts at the 2008 Little State Championships on Friday and Saturday.

Senior Matt Repking (Effingham, Ill./Teutopolis) led the Engineers with a second-place effort in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.  He recorded a time of 9:38.50 despite windy conditions.

Senior Rachel Krasich (Westfield) added a third-place finish in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase.  Krasich finished the race in a time of 11:50.08 in the effort.

Freshman Anastasia Tarpeh (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) contributed a school record and a pair of top-six qualification efforts.  Tarpeh set a school mark in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.71 for sixth place and tallied the second-best 200-meter time with a 26.36 and fifth place.

Sophomore Jonathan Rogers (Terre Haute/North) and sophomore Travis Vanderberg (Kansas City, Mo./West) rounded out the men's top five performances with fifth place efforts in field efforts.  Rogers leaped 13' 5 1/2" in the pole vault, while Vanderberg was fifth in the javelin throw with a toss of 158' 10".

On the women's side, junior Liz Ridgway (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Northwestern University) pitched in with a top-five finish in the javelin throw.  Ridgway was fifth overall with her effort of 101' 5". 

Sophomore Michael Burris (Terre Haute/North) added a seventh place finish in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.54.

Other top finishers included junior Vince Forcellini (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) with a ninth in the javelin throw (149' 0").

freshman Marcus Peck (Indianapolis/Ben Davis) with a 10th in the 110 high hurdles (15.86); and sophomore Jessica Haraburda (Clinton/South Vermillion) with a 10th in the women's hammer (123' 11").

The Engineers return to action at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet at the William Welch Track and Field Complex on Friday.
