MEET RESULTS

TERRE HAUTE, IND. - The Rose-Hulman track squads had strong showings in the Engineer Invitational on Saturday afternoon with the men' team taking second place honors, while the women finished sixth.

The meet featured seven teams representing five states.

The men's squad was led by sophomore Calvin Bueltel (Huntingburg/Southridge) who finished the afternoon with a pair of first place finishes to go along with a second and a fourth place effort.  Bueltel took top honors in the 200-meter dash, posting a mark of 23.01 seconds, tying the second fastest time for the event in school history, and anchored the winning 4-x-200 meter relay that included seniors Thomas Reives (Indianapolis/Arsenal Tech) and Bill Guiney (Centerville, Ohio), and freshman Robby Alumbaugh (Mooresville) that set a new Rose-Hulman record with at time of 1:33.06.

Bueltel was also a member of the second place 4-x-400 meter relay that consisted of Guiney, sophomore Will Reilly (Indianapolis/North Central), and freshman Marcus Peck (Indianapolis/Ben Davis) who ran a time of 3:27.77, the sixth fastest time ever run by a Rose-Hulman 4-x-400 meter relay.

Reives completed a successful afternoon by capturing first place in the high jump with a leap of 6' 5", taking third in the long jump with a mark of 40' 10 1/2", and running a leg of the school record setting 4-x-200 meter relay.

Sophomore Michael Burris (Terre Haute/North) tallied a first place finish for the Engineers in the 55-meter hurdles (8.09) to contribute to the team effort.

Other top performances for Rose-Hulman included a second place finish by junior Stephen Boedicker (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) in the 3000-meter run (9:08.64) and a third place effort by Peck in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.42 seconds.

On the women's side, freshman Anastasia Tarpeh (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) rewrote the Engineer record books by finishing second place in the 55-meter dash in a school record time of 7.42 seconds.

Senior Janel Belton (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway West) placed second in the shot put with a toss of 37' 7 1/4" to lead the women in the field events, while fellow senior Rachel Krasich (Westfield) captured third in the 3000-meter run in a time of 10:45.32, just 16 tenths of a second shy of her own school record.
