  Rose-Hulman News Two School Records Fall at the Engineer Invitational
 

Thomas Reives placed second in the high jump and was a member of the school record breaking 4-x-200 meter relay.

MEET RESULTS

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -  Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned three combined first place finishes as the men's squad placed second with 123.5 points and the women fourth with 66 points in the Friday Night Invite hosted by Rose-Hulman.

The meet featured student-athletes from Franklin College, Illinois College, Manchester College, Rose-Hulman, Wabash College, and Washington University (Mo.).

The men's squad collected a first place finish from sophomore Michael Burris (Terre Haute/North) who posted a winning mark of 8.10 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles.

Senior Thomas Reives (Indianapolis/Arsenal Tech) collected a second place finish for the Engineers in the high jump with an effort of 6'4".

Fellow senior Nate Bloss (Eau Claire, Wis./Regis) posted a pair of third place finishes for Rose-Hulman by jumping an even 19' in the long jump and posting a mark of 40' 1/2" in the triple jump.

The Engineers also got a third place finish from the 4-x-200 meter relay team that included seniors Bill Guiney (Centerville, Ohio) and Reives, sophomore Calvin Bueltel (Huntingburg/Southridge), and freshman Robby Alumbaugh (Mooresville) who broke the Rose-Hulman school record by posting a time of 1:33.30.

Other top finishers for the Engineers included sophomore Jared Stermole (North Ridgeville, Ohio) who placed third in the shot put with a toss of 43' 3 3/4" and seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 39' 10 3/4".  Bueltel posted a third place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.15 seconds, while senior Matt Repking (Effingham, Ill./Teutopolis) finished third in the 3000-meter run in 9:13.1.

The Rose-Hulman women were led by senior Janel Belton (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway West) in the field events and freshman Anastasia Tarpeh (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) on the track.

Belton captured first place in the shot put with a winning toss of 37' 4" and finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 40' 6 1/4". 

Tarpeh posted a winning time of 27.22 seconds in the 200-meter dash, tying the Rose-Hulman school record mark set by Ashley Bernal in 2004.

Other top performances for the women included third place finishes by senior Rachel Krasich (Westfield) in the Mile with a time 5:27.84 and sophomore Satomi Kaminaga (Tokyo, Japan/American) in long jump with a leap of 14' 1".  Junior Jessica Haraburda (Clinton, Ind./South Vermillion) took fourth place weight throw with a mark of 37' 4", Krasich posted a fourth place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:30.66, while sophomore Katie Moorhead (Wauwatosa, Wisc.) earned a pair of fifth place finishes in the shot put (32' 4 1/4") and weight throw (35' 2").  

The Engineers return to action on Saturday, January 26, in the Engineer Invitational at the Rose-Hulman SRC.  Field events will begin at 12:30 with running events starting at 1:00.
