Rachel Krasich -- HCAC Women's Track and Field Runner of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Rachel Krasich (Westfield) has been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Track and Field Runner of the Week for her efforts at Saturday's Early Bird Invitational.

Krasich won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a school record time of 11:47.71 to break her own previous school record by nearly 14 seconds.

Krasich topped a pair of runners from DePauw University and two from Franklin College to win the event that was staged with temperatures hovering in the mid-30s.

Currently, Krasich holds five individual indoor school records and three outdoor school best marks.  In indoor competition, Krasich holds marks in the 1,500-meters, the mile, the 2,000-meter steeplechase, the 3,000-meter run and the 5,000-meter run.  Outdoors, Krasich is the college record holder in the 3,000-meters, 5,000-meters and 3,000-steeplechase.

Earlier in the season, Krasich became the first Rose-Hulman female student-athlete to qualify for an NCAA Division III National Championship by qualifying for the Cross Country Nationals at St. Olaf College.

Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Rhodes College Invitational next weekend.
