Rachel Krasich -- HCAC Women's Track and Field Runner
of the Week |
TERRE HAUTE,
IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Rachel Krasich (Westfield)
has been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's
Track and Field Runner of the Week for her efforts at Saturday's
Early Bird Invitational.
Krasich won the 3,000-meter
steeplechase in a school record time of 11:47.71 to break her own
previous school record by nearly 14 seconds.
Krasich topped a pair of
runners from DePauw University and two from Franklin College to win
the event that was staged with temperatures hovering in the mid-30s.
Currently, Krasich holds five
individual indoor school records and three outdoor school best
marks. In indoor competition, Krasich holds marks in the
1,500-meters, the mile, the 2,000-meter steeplechase, the
3,000-meter run and the 5,000-meter run. Outdoors, Krasich is
the college record holder in the 3,000-meters, 5,000-meters and
3,000-steeplechase.
Earlier in the season, Krasich
became the first Rose-Hulman female student-athlete to qualify for
an NCAA Division III National Championship by qualifying for the
Cross Country Nationals at St. Olaf College.
Rose-Hulman returns to action
at the Rhodes College Invitational next weekend.
