Janel Belton -- HCAC Field Event Athlete of the Week |
TERRE HAUTE,
IND. -- The Rose-Hulman track and field squad claimed a pair of
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly honors this week.
Senior Matt Repking
(Effingham, Ill./Teutopolis) captured HCAC Runner of the Week
honors, while senior Janel Belton (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway
West) earned league Field Event Athlete of the Week accolades.
Repking came
within one second of breaking a 25-year old school record in the
3,000-meter steeplechase to win top honors in the event at the
prestigious Rhodes College Invitational.
Repking recorded a time of 9:31.54 in the steeplechase, despite
rainy and chilly conditions at the Rhodes
complex.
Belton recorded second and fourth place finishes in a pair of field
events at the Rhodes College Invitational on Saturday. Against
competitive fields of more than 15 athletes, Belton came home second
in the shot put with a throw of 37’ 3” and fourth in the discus with
a toss of 114’ 3”.

Last
season, Belton earned HCAC Field Athlete of the Year accolades for
her efforts at the conference championship meet.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on
Saturday.
