Rose-Hulman News Belton, Repking Claim HCAC Track and Field Weekly Honors

Janel Belton -- HCAC Field Event Athlete of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman track and field squad claimed a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly honors this week.

Senior Matt Repking (Effingham, Ill./Teutopolis) captured HCAC Runner of the Week honors, while senior Janel Belton (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway West) earned league Field Event Athlete of the Week accolades.

Repking came within one second of breaking a 25-year old school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to win top honors in the event at the prestigious Rhodes College Invitational.

Repking recorded a time of 9:31.54 in the steeplechase, despite rainy and chilly conditions at the Rhodes complex.

Belton recorded second and fourth place finishes in a pair of field events at the Rhodes College Invitational on Saturday.  Against competitive fields of more than 15 athletes, Belton came home second in the shot put with a throw of 37’ 3” and fourth in the discus with a toss of 114’ 3”.
