  Rose-Hulman News Engineers Tally Eight Top 10s, Two School Records at Purdue
 

Matt Repking led the Engineers with a second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. -  The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's and women's track and field teams recorded eight top 10 finishes, including a pair of school records, at the NCAA Division I Purdue Invitational on Saturday.

Junior Matt Repking (Effingham, Ill./ Teutopolis) led the Engineers with a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:44.74.  Junior Thomas Reives (Indianapolis/Arsenal Tech) added another top five with a fourth-place finish in the high jump (6' 5 1/2").

Other top 10 finishes on the men's side included senior Ryan Schipper (Fort Wayne/Bishop Dwenger) with a seventh in the pole vault (15' 1"); sophomore Stephen Boedicker (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) with a ninth in the 10,000-meter run (34:55); freshman Calvin Bueltel (Huntingburg/Southridge) with a 10th place in the 100-meter dash (11.79); and freshman Michael Burris (Terre Haute/North) with a 10th in the 100-meter high hurdles (16.23).

The 4-x-400-meter relay team of junior Bill Guiney (Centerville, Ohio), freshman Travis Vanderberg (Kansas City, Mo./West), freshman William Reilly (Indianapolis/N. Central) and Bueltel rounded out the strong performance with an eighth place in 3:28.67.

Mandy Hecker shattered a school record in the 1,500-meter run.

On the women's side, senior Mandy Hecker (Georgetown/N. Harrison) shattered her own school record by nearly three seconds to win the second heat with a 1,500-meter time of 4:49.63. 

Junior Rachel Krasich (Westfield) added a second school record with a time of 12:01 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for a 10th place finish.

Senior Kathleen Stynes (Okemos, Mich.) placed seventh in the high jump with a leap of 4' 10 1/2".  Junior Alissa Bishel (Chesterton) added a ninth in the 400, while senior  in an 11th in the 1,500-meter run.

Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational next weekend.
