FINAL MEET RESULTS

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -  The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's and women's track and field teams swept the William M. Welch Invitational led by a pair of school record performances in the women's shot put and discus and a nationally leading mark in the men's pole vault Saturday afternoon.

Junior Janel Belton (Chesterfield, Mo./ Parkway West) led the women's team set new school records in the shot put with a distance of 38' 1/4" -- the second best all-time at Cook Stadium -- and the discus throw with a mark of 120' 10" breaking her own mark by over three feet.

Also double winners, freshman Sarita Stephney (Houston, Tex./Hasting) won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.05 seconds and the 200-meter dash at 27.10 seconds, while senior Mandy Hecker (Georgetwon, Ind./ N. Harrison) took the 800-meter run with a 2:27.72 mark and the 1500-meter run at 4:54.44.

Hecker, who holds the Rose-Hulman record in the 1500-meters, ran her third best time, while freshman Melissa Rogers (Crawfrodsville, Ind./Southmont) moved in to second all-time for Rose-Hulman with her second place finish at 5:01.64.

Also with first-place finishes for Rose-Hulman, junior Rachel Krasich (Westfield, Ind.) took the 5000-meter run at 19:13.82, freshman Katie Moorehead (Wauwatosa, Wis.) won the hammer throw moving into third all-time with a mark of 110' 10", and freshman Rebecca Fehribach (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Derby) took the javelin throw with a 75' 5" mark.

Ryan Schipper cleared a nationally leading height of 16' 1 1/4" on Saturday afternoon.

On the men's side, the Engineers were led by a pair of victories by freshman Calvin Bueltel (Huntingburg, Ind./Southridge) in the 100-meter dash at 11.22 seconds and the 200-meter dash with a 22.82 time, and personal best outdoor mark by senior Ryan Schipper (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) in the pole vault at a mark of 16' 1 1/4".  Going into this weekend, this mark leads the nation in NCAA Division III pole vault.

Junior Matt Repking (Effingham, Ill./Teutopolis) won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a third all-time mark of 9:38.57 as sophomore Bob Warden (Terre Haute, Ind./North) and freshman Jared Stermole (North Ridgeville, Ohio) won the high jump at 5' 6" and discus throw at 132' 8", respectively.

Also with top marks, senior Paul Ceravolo (Warren, Mich./Mott) won the hammer throw at 133' 2", senior BJ Esarey (Defiance, Ohio) won the javelin throw with a mark of 165' 10", while freshman William Reilly (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) took second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.46 seconds and Schipper took second in the triple jump at 43' 1 1/2".

Rose-Hulman travels to the Purdue Invitational next Saturday.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
