Rose-Hulman News Schipper Places 9th, Narrowly Misses
Elusive All-American Honor

Ryan Schipper flies over the 15' 7 3/4" mark to place ninth in the NCAA Division III Indoor Nationals.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -  Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior pole vaulter Ryan Schipper (Fort Wayne/Bishop Dwenger) placed ninth nationally in the pole vault for the second time in his career in the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on Saturday.

Schipper cleared 15' 7 3/4" to capture the ninth-place finish, just one spot away from All-American honors.  He cleared 15' 1 3/4" on his first attempt, then surpassed his second mark on the third try.

The effort marks the second time in Schipper's career that he has placed ninth at an NCAA Division III Indoor Pole Vault Championship.  He also finished ninth at Illinois Wesleyan in 2006.

Schipper will have one more opportunity to earn All-American honors at the Division III Outdoor National Championships, if he is able to qualify for his first ever Outdoor meet.  The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh will host the 2007 Outdoor Championships in May.
