Ryan Schipper cleared 16' 0"
to improve his provisional position. |
ADA, OHIO
- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Ryan Schipper
(Fort Wayne/Dwenger) improved his NCAA Division III track and
field championship qualification chances with a 16' 0" leap to win
the pole vault at the Ohio Northern Invitational on Friday.
Schipper
narrowly missed three attempts at the automatic height of 16' 6" but
improved his best height of the season by five inches with the win.
He previously provisionally qualified at Rose-Hulman in February.
Junior
Thomas Reives (Indianapolis/ Tech) cleared 6' 4" in the high
jump to finish second in the high jump, while freshman Jonathan Rogers (Terre Haute/North)
cleared 13' 5 1/4" to finish sixth in the pole vault.
Freshman
Michael Burris (Terre Haute/North) added a third-place finish
in the 55-meter high hurdles with a time of 8.06 to round out the team effort.
Selected
individuals will compete at the DePauw Invitational next Friday in
Greencastle. Rose-Hulman will host the NCAA Division III Track
and Field Championships on Mar. 9-10 at the Sports and Recreation
Center.
