TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's and women's track and field teams captured second-place honors, with three school record performances and five event wins in the Rose Quad on Saturday afternoon.

The men's track and field team swept the 800-meter run, taking the top six places and all 31 points in the event, led by freshman Eric Clark (Wooster, Ohio) with a time of 2:02.55.  The 4-x-200-meter relay of freshmen Calvin Bueltel (Huntingburg, Ind.) and Travis Vandeburg (Kansas City, Mo.), and juniors Bill Guiney (Centerville, Ohio) and Trey Buck (Austin, Tex.) set a school record and a first place finish with a time of 1:34.69.

Also with top performances, freshman Michael Burris (Terre Haute, Ind.) took first place in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.26 seconds and Jonathan Rogers (Terre Haute, Ind.) won the pole vault with a height of 12' 10 1/4", and junior Thomas Reives (Indianapolis, Ind.) took second in the high jump with a height of 6' 3 1/2".

Sarita Stephney set a new Rose-Hulman record in the 55 meter dash at 7.62 seconds.

On the women's side, freshman Sarita Stephney (Houston, Tex.) set a school record in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.62 seconds to finish second, and claimed top honors in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.62 seconds.  Also setting a new school record, junior Rachel Krasich (Westfield, Ind.) took fourth in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:45.16.

Senior Mandy Hecker (Georgetown, Ind.) took second place finishes in both the 800 meter run and the mile run with times of 2:30.73 and 5:32.06 respectively.

The Engineers return to action next Saturday as they host the Engineer Invitational starting at 12:30 p.m. in the fieldhouse of the Rose-Hulman Sports and Recreation Center.
