Thomas Reives -- first-team academic
all-district |
TERRE
HAUTE, IND.
- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed three members of
its track and field team on the ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-District squad, in results released on Monday.
Junior
Thomas Reives (Indianapolis/ Arsenal Tech) captured first-team
academic all-district honors from the College Sports Information
Directors of America survey, while senior Kathleen Stynes
(Okemos, Mich.) and junior Rachel Krasich (Westfield)
were second-team honorees.
Reives
has earned conference championships in the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference and the Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference, while finishing 13th nationally in the NCAA Division III
high jump during the indoor regular season. His career-best
high jump effort of 6' 7 1/2" missed qualifying for the indoor
nationals by less than 1/2 inch.
The
mechanical engineering major earned the high jump title in the SCAC
in 2006 and the triple jump championship in the HCAC in 2007.
He also holds the indoor school record in the 60-meter dash (7.20
seconds) and ranks third all-time in the high jump both indoors and
outdoors.

Rachel Krasich -- 2nd-team academic
all-district |
Krasich
holds four school records in the Engineer track and field record
book and placed third in the HCAC in cross country last fall.
She holds outdoor school records in the 3,000-meter run and
3,000-steeplechase, along with indoor marks in the 1,500- and
3,000-meter runs. The chemistry and biochemistry and molecular
biology double major also earned the top women's conference finish
in school history in 2006.
Stynes
earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American honors in soccer last
fall and holds Engineer school records in the pole vault and high
jump. Her track and field efforts include a 2007 HCAC
championship in the pole vault, along with placements of fifth in
the league in high jump and sixth in triple jump. The
mechanical engineering major was also chosen one of three winners of
the Sam Hulbert Award for team leadership among all Rose-Hulman
senior student-athletes.
Reives
will advance to the national ballot, with the ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-America Team set for release late in the day on
Monday June 25. |
