Christy Sherman

* Assistant Track and Field Coach

Christy Sherman enters her sixth season as an assistant coach for throwing events at Rose-Hulman.

Sherman earned four All-American honors in the shot put at Indiana State University, including three second-place finishes at NCAA Division I championships, from 1990-91.

Sherman recorded a personal best mark of 58' 7" as a member of the United States team at the 1993 World Championships to record one of the top 20 throws in United States history.

Her work ethic in the weight room resulted in her receiving All-America honors in strength and conditioning from 1989-91. In 1991, Sherman was named the National Strength and Conditioning Association Athlete of the Year.

Sherman's efforts helped Rose-Hulman earn four Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference field event titles in the past three years. Eleven student-athletes have earned top-three finishes in the throwing events, with 2008 graduate Janel Belton named HCAC Field Athlete of the Year.

Sherman is employed by the Vigo County School Corporation as a teacher at Deming Elementary School. She is married to husband, John, and they have one son, Jack.
