Christy Sherman
* Assistant Track and Field Coach
Christy Sherman enters her sixth
season as an assistant coach for throwing events at Rose-Hulman.
Sherman earned four All-American
honors in the shot put at Indiana State University, including three second-place
finishes at NCAA Division I championships, from 1990-91.
Sherman recorded a personal best mark
of 58' 7" as a member of the United States team at the 1993 World Championships
to record one of the top 20 throws in United States history.
Her work ethic in the weight room
resulted in her receiving All-America honors in strength and conditioning from
1989-91. In 1991, Sherman was named the National Strength and Conditioning
Association Athlete of the Year.
Sherman's efforts helped Rose-Hulman
earn four Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference field event titles in the
past three years. Eleven student-athletes have earned top-three finishes in the
throwing events, with 2008 graduate Janel Belton named HCAC Field Athlete of the
Year.
Sherman is employed by the Vigo County
School Corporation as a teacher at Deming Elementary School. She is married to
husband, John, and they have one son, Jack.
