Sean Helliwell has led the Rose-Hulman men's
soccer team to two regular season conference championships and
one NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in his first two
seasons as head men's soccer coach.
Helliwell has compiled a record of 26-11-4 in two
seasons, including a mark of 15-0-1 in regular season conference
play. The Fightin' Engineers have won two outright regular
season championships and captured the 2008 Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference title to earn the college's first ever trip
to the NCAA Tournament.
In addition, Helliwell became the first men's
soccer coach in school history to win two Coach of the Year
honors, claiming back-to-back accolades from league coaches in
2008 and 2009.
Helliwell leads a Rose-Hulman program that has
compiled a 53-21-7 record since 2006. Prior to coming to
the college, he spent the previous
two seasons as assistant coach at NCAA Division I
Western Kentucky University.
Prior
to accepting the Western Kentucky position, Helliwell served as the head soccer
coach at Greenwood High School in Bowling Green, Ky. He compiled a 155-56-17
record in a tenure that featured nine district, four regional and two sectional
championships. His 2004 squad placed second in the Kentucky State Tournament.
Helliwell is actively involved in the Olympic Development Program in Region 2
and will serve as the head coach for the 92 Boys Regional team this summer.
In his
collegiate career, Helliwell played four seasons and served as team captain for
three years at the University of Southern Indiana, prior to earning his
bachelor's degree in 1995.
Helliwell and his wife Amy, the women's soccer coach at Rose-Hulman,
reside in Terre Haute.
