Larry
Cole, coach of 50 NCAA Division III All-Americans in a 20-year head
coaching career, enters his seventh season at Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology this fall.
Cole
has led the Engineers to back-to-back Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference Men's Track and Field titles in 2008 and 2009 to mark the
first Rose-Hulman athletic team with consecutive league
championships since the men's basketball squad accomplished the feat
in 1996 and 1997.
Cole
has helped revitalize the Rose-Hulman women's track and field
program, while continuing the tradition of men's success. The women
have established 39 school records in the last five years, including
the team's best-ever finish with a third place in the 2007 HCAC
Championships.
For
his efforts, Cole was honored as the 2008 and 2009 HCAC Men's Track and Field
Coach of the Year for the third and fourth league-wide awards of his
coaching career. At Rose-Hulman, Cole has coached a pair of
track and field All-Americans in Sutton Coleman (400 hurdles in
2009) and Ryan Schipper (pole vault in 2007).
