TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology softball team swept Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference Player of the Week honors after recording the best
spring trip record in school history last week.
Sophomore Darcie Thomas (Brighton, Mich.)
has been named the HCAC Offensive Player of the Week, while
senior Katie Maggard (Floyds Knobs/Floyd Central)
captured league Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Thomas batted .360 with two doubles and a .440
slugging average to pace Rose-Hulman's offensive effort as part
of a 6-2 overall record.
Thomas finished 9-25 at the plate with five runs
scored, two doubles, four walks and a .448 on-base average.
Her top effort was a 3-4 performance against Ohio Northern
University.
In the circle, Maggard recorded a 2-1 record with
two complete games, a 2.10 earned run average and a shutout in
four starts.

Maggard allowed just two earned runs in her last
19 innings and scattered 22 hits with 19 strikeouts in 23.1
total innings. She capped the week with a complete-game five-hit
shutout in a victory over St. John Fisher.
The 6-2 Engineers return to action with a
doubleheader at Greenville College on Saturday. Rose-Hulman
makes its home debut with a twinbill against Blackburn College
on March 16.
