TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Junior Ashley Montgomery
(Plainfield, Ind.) has been named the Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for her efforts
during the Arizona trip last week.
Ashley batted .545 with three home runs, three
doubles and one triple to propel Rose-Hulman's offense in a 4-4
Spring Trip to Arizona. Montgomery finished an impressive
18-33 at the plate with 11 runs batted in and eight runs scored
as the team's leadoff hitter.
Montgomery tallied an on-base average of .571,
slugged at .970, and committed just one error in 34 chances at
second base for 22 put outs, 11 assists and a fielding
percentage of .971.
Montgomery leads the team in hits (18), doubles
(3), triples (1), home runs (3), and RBIs (11).
In two games with Cabrini College, Ashley
led a strong offensive effort that scored 24 runs, with five hits in ten at-bats, five runs batted in and
scoring twice.
The Engineers stand at 4-4 on the season and
return to action in conference play against Hanover on Saturday
March 17 at 1 p.m. at the Rose-Hulman Softball Field.
