CARLINVILLE, ILL. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology improved to 9-5-1 on the season with a 5-0 victory at
Blackburn College on Sunday afternoon.
Rose-Hulman got on the board in just under three
minutes when senior Matt Trowbridge (Fort Collins, Colo.)
scored his 17th goal of the season on an assist from sophomore
Trevor Miller (Okemos, Mich.).
The Engineers took a 2-0 lead in the 22nd minute
on a goal by freshman Corbin Clow (Martinsville, Ind.) on
an assist by freshman Joe Salisbury (Fort Wayne, Ind.).
Freshman Mitch Buffington (O'Fallon, Ill.)
added a goal in the 28th minute to give Rose-Hulman a 3-0
halftime lead.
The Engineers took a 4-0 lead early in the second
half on an unassisted goal by sophomore Phil Meyer (Mequon,
Wisc.) that deflected off a Blackburn defender into the net.
Trowbridge scored once again in the 60th minute
on an assist by sophomore Rhys Evans (Lake Bluff, Ill.)
to increase his season tally to 18 and to round out the scoring
for Rose-Hulman in the victory.
In goal, senior Trey Buck (Austin, Texas)
made three saves and combined with freshman Andy Kruth (Cedar
Park, Texas) who saved a goal of his own, for a clean sheet. The Engineers earned their
third consecutive shutout
victory with the win.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the University
of Dallas next Saturday.
