TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology senior Matt Trowbridge (Fort Collins,
Colo./Poudre) scored all three goals to lead the Engineers
to a 3-1 win over Millikin in men's soccer action on Wednesday
night.
Trowbridge provided the game winner on a penalty kick with 3:32
remaining, after freshman Mitchell Ishmael (Knoxville,
Tenn./Farragut) was fouled inside the box.
Later Trowbridge added an insurance goal with 1:39 remaining
that pushed the advantage to 3-1.
Millikin University snapped a scoreless tie in the 77th minute,
when freshman Kevin McNelly scored from just inside the box on a
cross field pass from D.J. Cropper.
Rose-Hulman knotted the score at 1-1 just 25 seconds later, when
Trowbridge scored his on a pass from freshman Brad Holland
(Prospect, Ky./N. Oldham).
Trowbridge continues to lead the Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference in goals with 12 and points with 26. He has recorded
hat tricks in back-to-back games for the Engineers.
Senior Trey Buck (Austin, Texas/Ohio State)
tallied four saves in net to earn the goalkeeping win.
Rose-Hulman improved to 6-3 on the season and returns to action
on Saturday at nationally ranked Transylvania.
