Second Half Rally Lifts
Rose-Hulman Past Wabash 3-2
TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology sophomore Trevor Miller (Okemos, Mich.) scored with 1:34 remaining to complete a second-half comeback and lead the Engineers past Wabash College 3-2 in men's soccer action on Wednesday night. Miller scored on a double assist from freshman Nate Becker (St. Charles, Ill./North) and junior Matt Trowbridge (Fort Collins, Colo./Poudre). The Engineers trailed 2-1 at halftime, before freshman Rhys Evans (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) knotted the score at 2-2 with a score from the top of the box off an assist from freshman John Hollingshead (St. Peter's, Mo./Lutheran) in the 74th minute. Wabash built the lead courtesy of a goal from George Padgitt in the 27th minute, off an assist from Gary Simkus. Engineer senior David McIlwaine (Indianapolis/Pike) scored the equalizier to force a 1-1 tie on a pass from Evans. Simkus put home a score in the 40th minute to give the Little Giants the 2-1 halftime edge. Rose-Hulman outshot Wabash 12-7 in the contest, with junior Trey Buck (Austin, Texas/Ohio State) recording a pair of saves in goal. The Engineers outshot Wabash 8-7 in the first half, with a 4-3 edge in half number two. Rose-Hulman improved to 2-0-1 on the season, while Wabash dropped to 0-3. The Engineers host Earlham College on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Jim Rendel Field. |
