Engineers Top Blackburn
2-1, Improve to 1-0-1 on Season
TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team improved to 1-0-1 on the season with a 2-1 victory over Blackburn College on Saturday at Jim Rendel Field. Senior Eric Hoiland (Westminster, Colo./Northglenn) put the Engineers ahead with a score in the first half, giving Rose a 1-0 lead at the break. In the second half, senior David McIlwaine (Indianapolis/Pike) scored the eventual game winner on a double assist from Hoiland and junior Matt Trowbridge (Fort Collins, Colo./Poudre). Reid Noud scored for Blackburn in the 55th minute to make the score 2-1, then a strong defensive effort helped the Engineers earn the win. Junior Trey Buck (Austin, Texas/Ohio State) had three saves in net for the winners. Rose-Hulman returns to action on Wednesday against Wabash College at the Engineer Intramural Field. |
