TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology
junior linebacker Austin Hastings (Santa Ana, Calif.) and sophomore
Brandi Sturgill (Zionville, N.C./Watauga) were named Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week in their respective
sports for their efforts on Saturday.
Hastings was named the league's Football Defensive
Player of the Week after pacing Rose-Hulman with 13 tackles in a
13-10 loss to Defiance,
including five tackles-for-loss.
Hastings leads the Engineers with 39 tackles and
13.5 stops for loss so far this fall. He is the first two-time
recipient of the award in the HCAC so far this season, after earning
Player of the Week honors at North Park.

Sturgill established a school record with 60 assists
in the five-game volleyball victory over Transylvania University on
Saturday.
For the week, Sturgill recorded 81 assists, 22 digs,
and a pair of aces in two matches. The Engineers earned their
first ever HCAC victory in their first season in the league with the
Transylvania win.
The football team travels to Bluffton on Saturday at
1:30 p.m., while the volleyball squad heads to Defiance on Thursday
and Bluffton on Friday.
