Sam Danesis -- HCAC Player of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Two Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology student-athletes earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for their recent efforts.

Sophomore Sam Danesis (Akron, Ohio/ Revere) claimed the women's tennis Player of the Week honor for the second time this year, while senior Matt Trowbridge (Fort Collins, Colo./Poudre) earned his fourth men's soccer honor.

Danesis improved to 13-3 on the season in singles play and 12-2 in doubles match with a 3-0 singles mark and 2-0 doubles record this weekend.

Danesis lost just one game in six singles sets, then combined with Megan Chann for 8-2 and 8-1 victories at the No. 1 doubles spot.

The women's tennis team earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming HCAC Tournament with their weekend sweep.  Danesis and the Engineers will compete in the league's separate individual tournament this weekend.

Matt Trowbridge -- HCAC Player of the Week

Trowbridge scored five goals and snapped Rose-Hulman single-season records for goals and points to lead the Engineers to a perfect 3-0 week in men's soccer.

He scored twice in wins over Finlandia and Blackburn, and tallied the game winning score at Anderson. His totals of 18 goals and 39 points lead the HCAC and are new single-season school records at Rose-Hulman.

The Engineers stand 9-5-1 on the season and 3-1-1 in conference play.  Rose-Hulman returns to action on Saturday at the University of Dallas.
