TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Two Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology student-athletes earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference Player of the Week honors for their recent efforts.
Sophomore Sam Danesis (Akron, Ohio/ Revere)
claimed the women's tennis Player of the Week honor for the
second time this year, while senior Matt Trowbridge (Fort
Collins, Colo./Poudre) earned his fourth men's soccer honor.
Danesis improved to 13-3 on the season in singles
play and 12-2 in doubles match with a 3-0 singles mark and 2-0
doubles record this weekend.
Danesis lost just one game in six singles sets,
then combined with Megan Chann for 8-2 and 8-1 victories at the
No. 1 doubles spot.
The women's tennis team earned the No. 3 seed in
the upcoming HCAC Tournament with their weekend sweep.
Danesis and the Engineers will compete in the league's separate
individual tournament this weekend.

Trowbridge scored five goals and snapped
Rose-Hulman single-season records for goals and points to lead
the Engineers to a perfect 3-0 week in men's soccer.
He scored twice in wins over Finlandia and Blackburn, and
tallied the game winning score at Anderson. His totals of 18 goals and 39 points
lead the HCAC and are new single-season school records at Rose-Hulman.
The Engineers stand 9-5-1 on the season and 3-1-1 in
conference play. Rose-Hulman returns to action on Saturday at the
University of Dallas.
