Rose-Hulman News Three Engineers Named HCAC Players of the Week

Nick Schneider -- HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned three Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors after strong performances during the college's Homecoming weekend.

Freshman placekicker Nick Schneider (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) was named the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week as part of a 35-31 football victory over Manchester.

The Engineers also swept cross country Runner of the Week honors after a strong effort at Earlham.

Senior Stephen Boedicker (Delaware, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) was crowned the men's Runner of the Week, with senior Susan Nickol (Solon, Ohio/Beaumont School) earning the women's honor.

Stephen Boedicker -- HCAC Men's Runner of the Week

Schneider finished a perfect 5-5 on extra points and booted six kickoffs at an average of 58.5 yards per kick.  His kickoff efforts forced Manchester's average drive for the game to begin at the 23-yard line, with Rose-Hulman starting drives at the 34-yard line on average.

On the season, Schneider ranks third on the Engineers in scoring with 19 points.  He stands 16-17 on extra points and adding the eventual game winning field goal in a 10-7 victory over North Park.

Boedicker won the individual race at the Earlham College Invitational to help key a Rose-Hulman performance that resulted in the team's first Invitational victory since 2000.

Boedicker finished first among 99 runners with a time of 26:40 for eight kilometers.

Susan Nickol -- HCAC Women's Runner of the Week

Nickol placed fourth in the Earlham College Women's Cross Country Invitational to help key the team's fourth place overall performance.  Nickol completed the five kilometers in a time of 19:54.

Rose-Hulman stands 4-1 on the football season and 2-0 in conference play.  The Engineers return to action at Hanover College on Saturday afternoon.  The men's and cross country teams enjoy the weekend off, before returning to action on Oct. 17 at Wilmington.
