Megan Chann -- HCAC Player of the Week |
TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology recorded three Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference Players of the Week for the first week of the 2007-08
athletic season, in results released by the league office.
Freshman tennis player Megan
Chann (Columbia, Mo.), football punter and receiver Thomas Reives
(Indianapolis/Arsenal Tech) and soccer forward Matt Trowbridge (Fort Collins,
Colo./Poudre) earned the weekly honors.
Chann combined with sophomore Sam Danesis to win
the doubles championship at the IU-Southeast Individual
Tournament, then placed second in singles against NAIA and
NCAA Division
II competition
this weekend.

Thomas Reives -- HCAC Player of the Week |
Chann and Danesis rallied from 7-4 deficits in
each match to win two tiebreakers and claim the individual crown, then compiled
a 1-1 record and a second-place finish at the No. 4 singles position.
Chann and the Engineers host Marian College (Ind.) on Wednesday
at 5:30 in the first home event of the year.
Reives averaged 42.7 yards per punt on three boots to lead
Rose-Hulman's special teams play in a 24-17 win at Franklin.
Reives tallied a long punt of 47 yards and had two of his
three kicks end inside the Earlham 20-yard line.
He previously earned second-team ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-American honors in track and field last spring, after winning a
pair of league titles during his career.
Reives and the 1-0 football team head to Mount St. Joseph for
a conference matchup this weekend.

Matt Trowbridge -- HCAC Player of the Week |
Trowbridge provided three of Rose-Hulman's goals during a
perfect weekend at the Greenville Invitational on Friday and Saturday. He
scored twice in the team's 3-1 victory over Greenville, then added a single
score in a 5-0 win vs. Robert Morris.
Trowbridge stands fourth on Rose-Hulman's career scoring list
with 27 goals, after his three-goal effort this weekend. He previously
earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American honors in men's soccer
last fall.
Trowbridge and the 2-0 Engineers return to men's soccer action
on Wednesday at Wabash College. |
