Rose-Hulman News Rose-Hulman Captures Two HCAC Player of the Week Honors

Jordan Goslee -- HCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honorees for last weekend's efforts.

Sophomore Jordan Goslee (St. Joseph, Mich.) has been named the league Softball Pitcher of the Week, while senior Janel Belton (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway West) claimed the Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week award.

Goslee dominated hitters with a 3-0 record and a 0.37 earned run average in three Rose-Hulman victories last week.

She allowed just seven hits and one in 19 innings of work with 32 strikeouts and holding the opposition to a .109 average.

Goslee set a school record with 16 strikeouts in a two-hit shutout vs. Anderson and tossed a two-hit shutout against HCAC foe Franklin.  Her earned run average stands at 0.97 with a single-season school record 117 strikeouts in 2008.

Janel Belton -- HCAC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week

Belton smashed her own school record in the discus throw (135' 11") and the shot put (39' 0 1/2") at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet on Friday.

Belton also tallied a hammer throw of 125' 1" for the second-best effort in school women's history.

Her efforts resulted in finishes of second, fourth and fifth in events that featured provisional national qualification efforts by the winner.

The softball team hosts Mount St. Joseph and St. Mary-of-the-Woods this week, before concluding the regular season at Hanover on Saturday.  The track and field team will compete at the HCAC Championships on Friday and Saturday at Anderson University.
