TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology sophomore golfer Coy McNew (Richmond) and
senior track and field standout Ryan Schipper (Fort Wayne/Dwenger) were named Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference Players of the Week today.
McNew shot a round of 77 at the Millikin College
Invitational on Friday to lead the Engineers to a 12th-place
team finish in a tournament cut to one day due to rain.
McNew finished 32nd in the field of 116 players
with his effort. He joins teammate Daniel Williams as a
conference Player of the Week so far this season.
Schipper earned his second career Indiana Little
State championship with a pole vault clearance of 15' 11 3/4" in
cool and windy conditions on Friday. The effort was the
second best clearance for Schipper in the 2007 Outdoor Season.

Schipper became the first two-time Little State
champion at Rose-Hulman since his brother Andrew accomplished
the feat from 2000-03.
He has provisionally qualified for the NCAA
Division III Outdoor Championships after placing ninth in the
nation in the pole vault at Rose-Hulman's Indoor Nationals in
March.
The Rose-Hulman golf team hosts Wabash College on
Thursday at Hulman Links, while the track and field team hosts
the Engineer Twilight Meet on Friday at 5 p.m.
