Michael Schoumacher -- HCAC Tennis Player of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honorees for last weekend's efforts.

Sophomore Michael Schoumacher (Memphis, Tenn.) has been named the league Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while senior Rachel Krasich (Westfield) claimed the Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week award.

Schoumacher finished with a 2-0 at the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles positions in Engineer victories over Hanover College and Defiance College on Saturday.

Schoumacher helped the Engineers improve to 3-1 in HCAC play and 3-4 overall on the season with his efforts in Saturday's victories.

Rachel Krasich -- HCAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Krasich earned her second win in three weeks of outdoor competition in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with her victory at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday.

Krasich topped a field of nine student-athletes from six institutions to win the event.  She holds the school record with a mark of 11:26.45 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Rhodes College on March 29.

Krasich previously became the first women's cross country runner in school history to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships with her efforts last fall.

The men's tennis team returns to HCAC action with matches against Bluffton, Franklin and Mount St. Joseph this weekend.  The track and field squad will compete in the Little State Meet in Indianapolis starting Friday.
