TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology moved to 3-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 6-3 win over Hanover and a 9-0 victory over Defiance at home on Saturday.

Sophomores Michael Schoumacher (Memphis, Tenn.) and Scott Grubbs (Wildwood, Mo.) paced Rose-Hulman with perfect 2-0 records at No. 1 doubles and the No. 1 and 2 singles spots.

Freshman Ryan Taylor (Franklin) added a 2-0 record with wins at No. 6 singles against Hanover and the No. 4 singles slot vs. Defiance.

In addition, the doubles tandem of Taylor and freshman David Becerra (Brownsburg) added a key victory against Hanover at the No. 2 doubles slot.

Rose-Hulman stands 3-4 on the season and 3-1 in HCAC play.  The Engineers host Lake Land Community College on Wednesday at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.
