  Rose-Hulman News Rose-Hulman Stands 1-1 After Day 1 of HCAC Play
 

Michael Schoumacher earned victories at
No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.

LEXINGTON, KY. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology defeated Manchester College 8-1 and fell to Transylvania University 7-2 to open the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's tennis season on Saturday.

Sophomores Michael Schoumacher (Memphis, Tenn.) and Scott Grubbs (Wildwood, Mo.) paced Rose-Hulman with wins at No. 1 doubles and in No. 1 and No. 4 singles.

Freshmen Seth Hendrickson (Crawfordsville) and David Beccera (Brownsburg) also contributed wins in singles and doubles play.

In the nightcap, Hendrickson and freshman Brent Frizzell (Avon) claimed a victory at No. 2 doubles, and freshman Ryan Taylor (Franklin) won at the No. 6 singles slot.

Rose-Hulman stands 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in HCAC play.  The Engineers travel to Oakland City on Sunday.
