TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology improved to 6-7 on the season and 4-3 in Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 9-0 shutout victory
over Bluffton University in men's tennis action on Friday night
at the Wabash Valley Tennis Center.
Five Engineers earned victories in both singles
and doubles play. Senior Joe Rottman (Evansville/Castle)
earned a No. 1 singles win, and joined No. 5 singles winner
Michael Schoumacher (Memphis, Tenn.) in doubles play.
Seniors Daniel LaPlante (Terre Haute) and Steve
Shepson (Redlands, Calif.) combined for a victory at No. 2
doubles after wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Freshman Scott
Grubbs (Wildwood, Mo.) also recorded victories at No. 4
singles and No. 3 doubles.
Rose-Hulman returns to action on Saturday with a
2 p.m. match against Defiance at the West Indy Racquet Club in
Indianapolis, followed by a noon match on Sunday against Indiana
Tech at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis.
