TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology stands 3-1 on the men’s tennis season after splitting a pair of matches against IU-Southeast and Oakland City on Sunday. 

The Engineers topped IU-Southeast 7-2 in the opener, before dropping a 6-3 decision to Oakland City in the nightcap. 

Freshman Scott Grubbs (Wildwood, Mo.) led the Engineers with a 2-0 record in both singles and doubles play on the afternoon.  Grubbs won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, then teamed with freshman Michael Schoumacher (Memphis, Tenn.) for a pair of No. 3 doubles victory. 

Senior Joe Rottman (Evansville/Castle) led the Engineer effort with a 2-0 record in No. 1 singles play and a 1-1 mark in doubles action.  Rottman teamed with senior Devin Claerbout (Bloomington) for a doubles win, then added a pair of singles victories.

Rose-Hulman returns to action on Wednesday with a match at Wabash College.
