ANDERSON, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology moved into first place in men's tennis conference play for the first time in more than 20 years with wins of 5-2 over Anderson and  6-0 over Manchester on Sunday.

Senior Joe Rottman (Evansville) and senior Devin Claerbout (Bloomington) teamed up for two doubles victories and swept singes matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to lead the team effort.

Other winners for the Engineers included two No. 3 singles victories for senior Steven Shepson (Redlands, Calif.), a No. 4 singles win for freshman Scott Grubbs (Wildwood, Mo.), and a No. 6 singles victory for freshman Peter Wenzel (Sandy, Ore.).

In doubles action, the No. 3 doubles tandem of Grubbs and freshman Michael Schoumacher (Memphis, Tenn.) added an 8-6 win against Anderson. 

The Engineers stand 2-0 on the season and 2-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action after Sunday's wins at Anderson.  Rose-Hulman returns to action at Oakland City University next Sunday.
